    Hello!

Not sure how to do this but I just thought I’d mention a few important steps on my journey through music listening history that led me to where I am today in terms of music preference. Maybe someone will be able to relate to one or more of them. 🙂

So it stated out with the eurodance wave in the early 90:s. Our teacher let us bring CD:s and play a favourite track in class now and then. I believe I played some tracks by DJ BoBo and probably Ice MC from my “Partyzone” or “Absolute dance” VA CD collection.

In the mid 90:s my cousin got gifted a CD for christmas. It was something with that cover art that captured my interest: The Devil In Disguise. This was probably the first encounter I had with 160+ bpm music.

I guess I have always moved towards the darker and more melancholy sounds when exploring new genres of music and by the end of the 90:s I discovered two radio shows here in Sweden that catered to this. “P3 Mix” on SR (the equivalent to BBC Radio) and NRJ Extravadance both introduced me to trance music (and later on Hard House).

At around 2003 my facination with trance music started to fade and hardstyle and industrial hardcore became more and more interesting. Just when proper hardstyle suddenly got labeled “oldstyle” and was replaced with the dull “jumpstyle” sounds, I happened to stumble upon this mix series by an artist called DJ Rx. The Codex series of mixes opened up a whole new world to me. 160+ bpm, beautiful dark melodies without distorted kicks? The perfect blend! Then in came Alek Szahala and here we are. 🙂

Now, I don’t remember how I ended up on this blog but I have probably been lurking around for quite a few years by now. It has been, and will surely continue to be, the one place on the Internet that ties me to the world of NRG and Freeform music.

Right, sorry for the lengthy post. Cue favourite intro! There are so many brilliant tunes out there but this was one of the first to pop up in my head.
