I only saw/heard this recently, but what with Al megiddo still being so popular (Guld’s favourite ThermalForce tune, actually), I had to post it up here. This piece is taken from the Innocence film, not the original Ghost in the Shell, but it has the same feel, definitely. Some extremely awesome taiko drumming too – the composer, Kenji Kawai, is saying in the first clip about how he was searching all over the place for this sort of fast, cool drumming before he eventually found his man.
I saw Innocence a few years ago in a really bad cinema in London, with terrible sound, and I haven’t seen it since – so I didn’t recognise this theme at all, to be honest (edit: which is a bit ridiculous, as Twisted Freq used the opening in his track Innocence…thanks to Jiipez for that!) . It’s real ‘hairs standing on end’ stuff towards the end though and as amazing as most of Kawai’s work, so be sure to get through the second video if you have time.
it’s used in TF’s “innocence” too..
only now i figured that 😀
How didn’t I realise that either?? Especially with the title of the tune…
