{"id":1996,"date":"2017-05-31T17:19:32","date_gmt":"2017-05-31T08:19:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/thankyouforthehorse.com\/?p=1996"},"modified":"2017-05-31T22:39:42","modified_gmt":"2017-05-31T13:39:42","slug":"dimensional-gateway-4-veil-of-the-moon","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thankyouforthehorse.net\/?p=1996","title":{"rendered":"Dimensional Gateway 4: Veil Of The Moon"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone \" src=\"http:\/\/i189.photobucket.com\/albums\/z193\/plasmadancer_2007\/va-dimensional-gateway-4_zpsb88nvdk1.jpeg\" width=\"470\" height=\"470\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Inspired by the incoming <em><a href=\"http:\/\/globalsect.ru\/terraformer\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Terraformer <\/a><\/em>from Global Sect, I was meaning to go back to Goa for a post-<em>In Praise of Shadows <\/em>refresh, even before the freeform drought we&#8217;ve seen so far in 2017. Another release I&#8217;ve taken a proper look at in the meantime is <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ektoplazm.com\/free-music\/dimensional-gateway-4-veil-of-the-moon\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em>Veil Of The Moon<\/em><\/a>, the excellent fourth installment in Neogoa&#8217;s <em>Dimensional Gateway <\/em>series.<\/p>\n<p>After a lot of recent Suntrip, Altar and Global Sect compilations that cater for the lighter Goa sound its nice to hear a darker, melodic, old-schoolish atmosphere throughout <em>VOTM<\/em>, especially as my forever-WIP Goa mix is always at the back of my mind. The intro track <em>Dragon Twins <\/em>starts the release off in impressively creative style, with some nice acid, psy elements and even decent use of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=i-EUZhyI3cc&amp;feature=youtu.be&amp;t=49s\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Think break<\/a>. It&#8217;s into more conventional Goa territory for the following tracks, maintaining a consistently high standard throughout even if some of the production falls short of the scene&#8217;s big-hitters, with some occasional (comparative) muddiness or slightly spongy kicks.<\/p>\n<p>Favourites for me would be the Proxeeus tracks <em>Dagon <\/em>and (with GoaD) <em>Acid Implant, <\/em>as well as Clementz&#8217; <em>Black Dwarfs<\/em>. Negans&#8217; <em>Silver <\/em>is a fine track, but doesn&#8217;t quite match the lovely stuff on his own Neogoa release, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ektoplazm.com\/free-music\/negans-danse-macabre\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em>Danse Macabre<\/em><\/a>.
