{"id":2192,"date":"2017-07-23T22:27:03","date_gmt":"2017-07-23T13:27:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/thankyouforthehorse.com\/?p=2192"},"modified":"2017-07-23T22:27:03","modified_gmt":"2017-07-23T13:27:03","slug":"jimhe-iku-turso","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thankyouforthehorse.net\/?p=2192","title":{"rendered":"Jimhe &#8211; Iku-Turso"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/w.soundcloud.com\/player\/?url=https%3A\/\/api.soundcloud.com\/tracks\/331429044&amp;color=2f3842&amp;auto_play=false&amp;hide_related=false&amp;show_comments=true&amp;show_user=true&amp;show_reposts=false\" width=\"100%\" height=\"166\" frameborder=\"no\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m obviously never averse to a trip down memory lane, and the other day I was thinking fondly back to how many &#8216;amateur&#8217; Finnish producers used to come up with some wonderful stuff, promoted via the FINRG forums (often by way of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mikseri.net\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">mikseri<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>Jimhe&#8217;s <em>Iku-Turso <\/em>is a decade too late to join Cyber Genetics, Beliar, and the rest, but thanks to SoundCloud there&#8217;s still a chance this excellent track will get the exposure it deserves. From the moment the first acid lines and melodies kick in it&#8217;s clear that this is freeform in the finest Finnish tradition (both musically <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wikiwand.com\/en\/Iku-Turso\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">and otherwise<\/a>) that manages the energetic\/melancholy balance impressively. Throw in a beautiful, creative pre-break, weighty drop, and some Aryx-esque leads, and you have a quality piece of work.<\/p>\n<p>That I was easily imagining this playing alongside some of Grimsoul&#8217;s mikseri back catalogue should say it all, as his rough and readier older tracks sometimes hit atmospheres that weren&#8217;t matched by the later versions (see <em>Painajainen <\/em>and <em>Bleed <\/em>as an example).
