A couple of post-2000 tunes in this one, and some very deep tracks from the early days.<\/p>\n<p>I don&#8217;t think I&#8217;ve ever posted the link, but I must have mentioned this before &#8211; it&#8217;s PFM&#8217;s <em>The Western. <\/em>I once put it at no.1 in my all-time Top Ten, and it might still be there&#8230;15 years of listening and I still love it.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><object width=\"420\" height=\"385\"><param name=\"movie\" value=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/v\/Z-Vt51CH19Y&#038;hl=en_US&#038;fs=1&#038;\"><\/param><param name=\"allowFullScreen\" value=\"true\"><\/param><param name=\"allowscriptaccess\" value=\"always\"><\/param><embed src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/v\/Z-Vt51CH19Y&#038;hl=en_US&#038;fs=1&#038;\" type=\"application\/x-shockwave-flash\" allowscriptaccess=\"always\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" width=\"420\" height=\"385\"><\/embed><\/object><\/p>\n<p>Next is a real gem from Shogun (aka Artemis) called <em>Together<\/em>. I only found out the title last week &#8211; 14 years after I first heard it! My cousin used it as the opening track in a 1996 intelligent dnb mix titled <em>Music to Make Your Parents Worry<\/em>, but I think my mum and dad quite liked this one too.<\/p>\n<p><object width=\"420\" height=\"385\"><param name=\"movie\" value=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/v\/5rvjN0TDqag&#038;hl=en_US&#038;fs=1&#038;\"><\/param><param name=\"allowFullScreen\" value=\"true\"><\/param><param name=\"allowscriptaccess\" value=\"always\"><\/param><embed src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/v\/5rvjN0TDqag&#038;hl=en_US&#038;fs=1&#038;\" type=\"application\/x-shockwave-flash\" allowscriptaccess=\"always\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" width=\"420\" height=\"385\"><\/embed><\/object><\/p>\n<p>This one was a big anthem &#8211; <em>Airtight <\/em>by <em>Funky Technicians<\/em>. Get past the fantastic drums in the intro and it&#8217;s a deep deep track.<\/p>\n<p><object width=\"420\" height=\"385\"><param name=\"movie\" value=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/v\/bN-3EEvVM6g&#038;hl=en_US&#038;fs=1&#038;\"><\/param><param name=\"allowFullScreen\" value=\"true\"><\/param><param name=\"allowscriptaccess\" value=\"always\"><\/param><embed src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/v\/bN-3EEvVM6g&#038;hl=en_US&#038;fs=1&#038;\" type=\"application\/x-shockwave-flash\" allowscriptaccess=\"always\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" width=\"420\" height=\"385\"><\/embed><\/object><\/p>\n<p>The drums might not be too manic in KMC&#8217;s <em>System <\/em>(1997), but everything else is top class&#8230;just a lovely tune.<\/p>\n<p><object width=\"420\" height=\"385\"><param name=\"movie\" value=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/v\/RW2URGTl73I&#038;hl=en_US&#038;fs=1&#038;\"><\/param><param name=\"allowFullScreen\" value=\"true\"><\/param><param name=\"allowscriptaccess\" value=\"always\"><\/param><embed src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/v\/RW2URGTl73I&#038;hl=en_US&#038;fs=1&#038;\" type=\"application\/x-shockwave-flash\" allowscriptaccess=\"always\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" width=\"420\" height=\"385\"><\/embed><\/object><\/p>\n<p>Ok, here we have a track that&#8217;s only four years old! This one is <em>Embracing Solitude<\/em> by JCB, and it was released by Cintamani, a brilliant label that tried to revive the intelligent side of drum and bass. Sadly there still aren&#8217;t enough people into the sound, and it seems to have faded away again&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><object width=\"420\" height=\"385\"><param name=\"movie\" value=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/v\/u72eAW90G5k&#038;hl=en_US&#038;fs=1&#038;\"><\/param><param name=\"allowFullScreen\" value=\"true\"><\/param><param name=\"allowscriptaccess\" value=\"always\"><\/param><embed src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/v\/u72eAW90G5k&#038;hl=en_US&#038;fs=1&#038;\" type=\"application\/x-shockwave-flash\" allowscriptaccess=\"always\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" width=\"420\" height=\"385\"><\/embed><\/object><\/p>\n<p>Finally, here&#8217;s a fantastic track from an American artist called Antibreak. Around the early to mid-2000s he was coming out with some amazing tracks that weren&#8217;t picked up by any labels (a tune called <em>1 2 3 <\/em>was another great one, but I can&#8217;t see it on YouTube). <em>Lumiere <\/em>is an absolute journey for 10 minutes, but sadly his more recent releases seem to have trapped themselves in the current dnb template and don&#8217;t match up to his early efforts.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A quiet couple of days, so let&#8217;s have another break with some nice drum and bass.
