{"id":764,"date":"2011-10-15T11:58:36","date_gmt":"2011-10-15T02:58:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/thankyouforthehorse.com\/?p=764"},"modified":"2011-10-15T11:58:36","modified_gmt":"2011-10-15T02:58:36","slug":"chill-out-corner-5","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thankyouforthehorse.net\/?p=764","title":{"rendered":"Chill Out Corner 5"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"430\" height=\"360\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/bIX6QHZ25P0\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s been over a year since the last batch of intelligent drum &amp; bass tunes on <em>TYFTH<\/em>, but as I haven&#8217;t been listening to much freeform during this past busy week it seems the right time to post up a few more favourites.<\/p>\n<p>First of all, big thanks again to Pearsall for linking to <em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hardscore.com\/\">Hardscore<\/a> <\/em>on <a href=\"http:\/\/sonicrampage.org\/blog\/2011\/09\/goodies-ahoy\/\"><em>Sonicrampage<\/em><\/a>, a truly amazing collection of 90s jungle that will keep me going for the rest of the year and then some. Some of DJ Extreme&#8217;s sets are incredible, admirably staying away from a lot of the usual anthems, and even sneaking in some promos I&#8217;ve never heard before.<\/p>\n<p>One classic I&#8217;ve rediscovered is Atlas&#8217; <em>Second Heaven<\/em>, a tune I totally fell in love with about 16 years ago&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"430\" height=\"360\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/DKGvMnZQ7Nw\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Next is another tune from 1994 &#8211; D.O.P.E&#8217;s <em>Travelling<\/em>. Brilliant drum programming and vocal samples make this one, I&#8217;ve always loved the atmosphere.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"430\" height=\"360\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/7TExlTNK850\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><em>Drift to the Centre <\/em>by Aquarius (aka Photek) is an absolute classic, with inspired vocals, lovely sub and amens, as well as one of my favourite breakdowns. Why on earth don&#8217;t tunes sound like this any more?<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"430\" height=\"360\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/WHxB7VTL4II\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Even more chilled is <em>Lush Life <\/em>from J Majik, a very deep track I first heard in 1996.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"430\" height=\"360\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/AHBJ68icJ_4\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><em>Ulysees<\/em> has that timeless Shogun combination of pacy drums over deep pads\/melodies, and a lovely intro&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"430\" height=\"360\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/cXDP8WEKsVM\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Finally, here&#8217;s what might be my favourite Source Direct track &#8211; 1994&#8217;s <em>Shimmer<\/em>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It&#8217;s been over a year since the last batch of intelligent drum &amp; bass tunes on TYFTH, but as I haven&#8217;t been listening to much freeform during this past busy week it seems the right time to post up a few more favourites.
