Man of a million genres, aka Syntse, looks like he played a great freeform set in Finland last Friday, including Betwixt & Between’s Airwave remix. It’s definitely worth checking out both videos, but Airwave is at the start of the second. Always great to see a Japanese tune get that kind of response from the crowd…
Events
Here’s a short clip taken at last November’s Operation Karma, with NRGetic Romancer regular, video-taker and all-round nice-guy Soham (on the left) dancing to Alek Szahala’s Lagash. This one was probably during KA-NA’s set, shame he didn’t get the freestyle glow-nunchaku going, too.
I’m back from Roppongi, and a pretty unusual Muon event. It was great to meet all the DJs, but over half the event was hard house/schranz of the light variety, with only A10 Device, SHINOSAN and myself playing harder tunes at the start of the night.
A10 Device’s set was really good, playing very hard THC-style gabber, but as an opening set to this kind of event it was always going to fall a bit flat. Add in the delay of 10 minutes caused by the incredibly unhelpful staff (one very professional guy excluded), and A10 Device did a great job to keep it together. SHINOSAN also played a nice set of slower Hard NRG/schranz, including Hellnight and DJ X’s Hannya X remix. He also went to town with the video-taking, getting about 10 minutes of each DJ, so some of those might be coming later.

I’m heading out to Roppongi and Muon before long, but there’s just time to mention the Hard Dance Awards. Get yourself over to the official site and show some support to FINRG and its artists – it might be worth a vote or two for the Japanese scene, too…Guld managed to get into LOUD’s Top 50 last year, don’t forget.
We’ll be back to normal service once tonight’s event is over, by the way, with some new tracks coming soon to TYFTH and FINRG.

It’s finally ok to announce this one – ConfigSys Project is the special guest for FUNERAL’s March event! As usual for FUNERAL it’ll be held in Nagoya, but I’ll definitely be heading over there, as will a big group of the Romancer regulars (some of whom will be putting on a dance performance too). Really looking forward to this one, Loki Rinomaria is pulling out all the stops to build up the scene in that part of Japan.
By the way, I was hoping that the next track or two might be on the site this week, but it might have to wait a few more days. Coming soon, though…
Sorry, a bit slow on the updates at the moment – but just had news from Muon HQ that the timetable has changed slightly for Friday’s event. Seems like DJ 490 has pulled out, which is a big shame….but he’ll be replaced by A10 Device, who plays at Tokyo Hardcore Construction and Hardcore Nitro. Could be a good way to start the night…
23.00-23.45 – A10 Device
23.45-00.30 – SHINOSAN
00.30-01.15 – PlasmaDancer
01.15-02.00 – ROCK
02.00-02.45 – AEMI
02.45-03.30 – 小茶目 (kochame)
03.30-04.15 – まさなり≒mAs@ha2
04.15-05.00 – tech dance
I wasn’t there, as expected, but luckily TAK666 took some nice footage of all the DJs at yesterday’s Cradle to Grave. Here we have Alabaster playing Frozen Flame, still a lovely tune. It sounds like Singularity being mixed in at the end there, one of his favourites recently.
DJ AEMI has just announced the timetable for next week’s Muon event, and it looks like the bpm will gradually be going up through the night – maybe a good move with so many genres. As there are 8(!) DJs, everyone’s playing for a fairly short 40 minutes, but I’m happy to be following up the schranz/Hard NRG of NRGetic Romancer regular SHINOSAN, before the two resident DJ sets.
23.00-23.40 – DJ 490
23.40-00.20 – SHINOSAN
00.20-01.00 – PlasmaDancer
01.00-01.40 – ROCK
01.40-02.20 – AEMI
02.20-03.00 – 小茶目 (kochame)
03.00-03.40 – まさなり≒mAs@ha2
03.40-4.20 – tech dance

This one has sneaked up without me realising – the next Cradle to Grave is tomorrow. I’ve been meaning to get to one for a long time now (it’s organised by Alabaster, which can only be a good thing), but my crazily busy month is showing no signs of easing up…sadly I don’t think I’ll have the time. Shame, as the lineup is looking nice:
Special Guest Act///
練乳(練乳ナイト/Affinity)
asagaoaudio(AN Tokyo/audio assault/ARMS)
DJ Takahashit(RODEO)
Lounge Floor DJ///
DJ WILDPARTY(赤線企画/T.H.C/ドゲバルト/PLUS HIGH)
kokou(ExTEND/Spiel!)
nadeco(YTR RECORDS/La Fiesta!)
C2G Crew///
Alabaster(M&C Rec.)
KITUNE(La Fiesta!)
TAK666
Maybe everyone has seen it before, but a couple of days ago I came across this nice video of Nomic playing at an event last year. Some of his recent classics are in here, and he also gets a million bonus style points for playing a set while wearing a Thundercats T-shirt.
