Wonderful to see that Betwixt & Between is getting back into music again, starting with a set this Friday at KOTOBUKI NIGHT in Aoyama. He’s also been looking through his back catalogue, and recently uploaded an old (and previously unheard) track called I Believe Nothing.
It’s vintage Betwixt, with some beautiful melodic sections up against dark semi-industrial hardcore – an awesome combination, and the unusual style suggests all sorts of possibilities for use in a set. Although it’s absolutely deserving of a real release, for the time being it’s downloadable here.
Some great potential (I totally love the main here) but he should remove some elements in my opinion (like the samples from City of Traitors and Quicksand maybe).
Still good to get some unreleased material from the man.
I’d love to hear a ‘best of Betwixt & Between’ set if you fancy doing one. 🙂

I know just what you mean, but quite a few of his older tunes have samples that he reuses later (like that old track with the Hesatarou sample, can’t remember the title right now), so it doesn’t usually spoil the track for me. I guess that this might well be the ‘original’ use of the samples, anyway…

Funnily enough, I had the same thought recently – they’re not usually the easiest to mix together, but I might have a bash when/if I’ve got some spare time 🙂 Failing that I could always redo the Betwixt vs Alabaster set I played on ustream…
