Events

Not long to go until NRGetic Romancer, and it looks like things are unchanged from the cancelled event earlier this month. No Lunch, but it’s still a great lineup that’ll hopefully bring in a good number of ravers – as you’d expect, a fair amount of the takings on the night will be going towards helping people in the badly affected areas.

Guld has just let me know that we’re postponing tonight’s NRGetic Romancer (probably until sometime next month). This is obviously related to yesterday’s earthquake and tsunami here – although Tokyo escaped with very little trouble, we’re still without gas, and transport has only just started up again…postponing is definitely the best idea for everyone’s safety.

Everyone I know seems to be fine, but best wishes go to people in the coastal/north eastern areas, where it’s a terrible scene at the moment. You can find an NHK stream of what’s happening here.

Anyone looking to help might find this google page useful, where you can make donations to several different organisations.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but this month’s NRGetic Romancer is looking incredible, and might be the best example of timetabling we’ve seen for a while. Siki and I have swapped over this time, so I’ll have to come up with a decent set to match her usual standards, while the rest of the night features (among others) a whole hour of dark psy from TETRA and Cogi, gabber from Kanon and Lunch, and a Betwixt & Between/Guld finale.

There’ll be a guest list for this one, so those in Tokyo or nearby should feel free to get in touch this week!

AT recently uploaded some 30-second clips from last month’s Destroyed High, including this one of Merchen Diver playing Pain on Creation’s Mortality. The rest of the set included a lot of UK-style hardcore, but KA-NA took over at a couple of points to throw in Alek Szahala’s Lagash and Firecloud.

Take a look at Destroyed High’s YouTube account for clips from the other DJs (except AT himself, sadly).

Guld has given the all-clear to announce the next NRGetic Romancer, and it’s looking like the perfect way to (finally) get 2011 going. Once again it’s a collab with ever free, but this time the focus is on hardcore featuring just about all of the scene’s ‘top-level regulars’ (as the promotional text puts it). The flyer’s still to come, but check out the lineup in the meantime:

That new studio set is still under construction, and now I’m starting to think about next month’s NRGetic Romancer too, so to give my ears a rest this week’s Ustream set will be breakbeat hardcore. I know it’s not everyone’s cup of tea, but as the Dreams Into Harder mix is still getting some nice feedback I thought I’d make use of the tunes I couldn’t fit into that one, plus a few newer releases. We’ll soon find out if last time was just beginner’s luck…

Things’ll get going at a later start time of 11pm, just in case I’m not feeling too perky after Destroyed High.

The first Destroyed High is one day away, so it’s about time for a look at the new event homepage. It’s a bit sparse right now, but there are already some artist profiles (in Japanese), links to the youtube channel and a short sample mix from AT. Sadly the set has a few messy transitions, but the selection gives a good idea of what AT will be playing tomorrow – Hybridize melodic freeform with added Guld-style nastiness.
