This month’s NRGetic Romancer lacked any special guests, and it was always going to be difficult to follow August’s event (where Proteus, Adam Lab 4 and Guld all headlined), but Cogi and KA->NA in particular played a couple of incredible sets this time. As always, the event was friendly, inclusive, and everyone attending was also presented with a promo copy of Proteus’ August mix – a fantastic set.
This was the first time for me to hear KA->NA play live, and it’s a shame that she played so early – her track selection and mixing were both spot on. The floor was still farly empty at that point (most people simply hadn’t arrived yet, Tamachi is pretty out of the way, after all), but Cogi followed immediately with a classic Hard/Nu Nrg set – opening up with an awesome edit of The Prodigy’s Break and Enter. [update: It seems that it was a stand-alone track, rather than an edit – Tres chic by Nexus 6. Thanks Cogi!]
DJ Yousuke started slowly, but his set soon built up into his trademark style, an excellent mix of NRG, UK Hardcore, Freeform and Hard Trance, with tracks from Lab 4, Lost Soul, Infected Mushroom, Yoji Biomehanica…

Betwixt & Between’s set was slightly disappointing, if only for the lack of new tracks – no sign of his Hellfire remix, the recent Zodiac Brave track, or any of the new Kreatrix material. Understandably maybe, his August set was far better, but this one still included a few of my all time favourites. His fairly new melodic track, Zusammengehorigkeit, made an appearance, as well as Hollow and The Awakening, two of the tunes included in my last mix. Others included Moving Flare and the original version of Eternal Cannon. Of course, seeing Betwixt & Between live is always an experience, and his mixing was right up there as usual. Still, I’ll be hoping for some newer tracks come December.
Guld’s final set was one of the best I’ve heard from him for a while, with all the staples being wheeled out (Hannya, Perfect Drug), alongside newies like Guld and Betwixt & Between’s Hatral – but the ordering and selection was very good this time. The final few tracks, including Innocence, Venla, and Nue Messiah (as an encore) kept things manic right until the first train and beyond. Great stuff, for sure. Overall, this month’s NRGetic Romancer was another fantastic event, and you (or at least I) could pretty much ignore the lack of new tunes amidst the great atmosphere, quality tracks and excellent mixing. Next one’s on the 15th December!

Many thanks to Guld and Cogi for the use of these photos.
ah.. these events always look so fun, i really wish i could somehow get to them :p
also where are all these betwixt & between tracks that i see you writing about coming from? i really love his stuff but im only familiar with his releases on discogs.
sppk – About Betwixt & Between’s tracks…there are quite a few seeing release right now, on the ‘digi-up’ label (Invoker + Tindaros), and some up-coming on the Kreatrix label. There’s also the Khaotic Dimension CD release from last year and the occasional track on the Hardcore Tano*C compilations. Some of his really nice older tracks (like The Awakening) haven’t seen any kind of release yet, but digi-up might be the best bet for that kind of thing.
Thank you for the Party report!
I can’t wait for 15th December!!!
ah… khaotic dimension. i really need to get my hands on that.
