Labraska-Lite Freeform by Labraska
Seems like almost everybody commented in the Never Forget/Solar Hive post, so you might already have the SoundCloud link for Labraska’s Lite Freeform set. I gave it a full listen on the way back from Yokohama today, and it’s more than worth its own post – we’ve obviously got another up-and-coming DJ here.
You’ll see from the tracklist that it’s a mix of mostly UK and Finnish freeform, and it reminded me quite a bit of some the Full Circle DJ sets we hear at NRGetic Romancer. It’s heavy on the acid and hands-in-the-air breakdowns, with some nice Finnish style at the start and end. Mixing wise it’s very impressive, Utopia>You Are (Not) Alone is a great mix to start things off. Personally I didn’t like Gunfire much, but the idea was obviously to suddenly change up the style, and the progression through the next four or five tracks is really well thought out (ending up with One World and Voices of Babylon’s twisty synths). Finally, massive kudos for the selection of Eternal Cannon>Three Or Three. It’s extremely tricky to find a tune that can follow either version of Eternal Cannon, but TOT is an inspired pick. I’ve heard it here in Tokyo before but didn’t have a clue what it was – always nice to learn something from a set.
I’m not the biggest fan of the UK style, but the tracks here work well together and the mix is never too far from some more nasty acid. Definitely recommended, and another chance to hear a fellow Horser’s (?) taste in freeform.

Haha wow, just wow. I couldn’t have dreamed of this publicity Plasmadancer. Dedicating a hole post to my first pure freeform mix. I can’t thank you enough for the support!
About Gunfire. Well I know it might not be the best production ever, and might not fit the theme to a 100% but people close to me has been talking a lot about Planet Perfecto – Bullet In The Gun recently. A friend of mine dug it up from his archive a couple of weeks ago. It is one of all those songs that got me/us into the trance scene where I first started my journey into the world of electronic dancemusic.
And the first time I heard Expression & Riddler – Gunfire it made me smile.
The original is a special tune for me. Even though the vocal samples seem to be a little off beat in Gunfire here and there, hearing it brings back memories and I think it has a good vibe and drive. I thought it was a fun track to include.
Just like you said, Plasmadancer, this mix is leaning quite a bit to the UK sound. I feel like the tunes fit quite well together and the drive is consistent throughout the mix.
When I first listened through the mix from soundcloud after uploading it, I got a bit shocked when hearing Three Or Three entering the mix at the end hehe. I felt the beat came in quite strong and was affraid it would give people who listen to the mix a mild heartattack. 🙂
I simply love the acid lines at the start of that tune. I’m happy to help out with a ID in the process Plasmadancer. 😉
And btw, Lite Freeform in Swedish means Some Freeform in english. 🙂
I’ll say one thing about this set (i’ve posted more timed comments on SC). This set is MADE OF WIN. :D:D
Hors’ter? LOL Thank You for the Horsian? Or just Horsian. I prefer the term Freeform Lovin Badass with Mad Skillz, personally ;P
Oh cool, some of my tracks!
Btw its “Nightforce – You Are (Not) Alone”, the only track I made with Cyrez was “Endstille”
I read it very often that there are some mistakes with the artists -_-‘
Nightforce>
Oh, very sorry for that. 🙁
For some reason I was under the impression that the whole Nightforce EP was by you and Cyrez. Why I did that I actually find odd since the release is called “Nightforce EP”. At least at trackitdown.
Again, sorry for the confusion.
Nisse
Don’t mention it at all, I’m just as grateful for the support on here!
I thought there might be a story behind ‘Gunfire’ sneaking in there – definitely makes sense if you were into ‘Bullet in the Gun’. For some reason I was thinking it was going to be more of a ravey kind of track as it was mixing in, which might have been interesting to hear…something like Proteus suddenly using RMB – Spring in his sets.
Three Or Three sounds perfect coming in…being a bit loud adds to the impact, I can imagine that mix working brilliantly in a club 🙂 I love that kind of ‘sharp’ acid too, a bit like some of EFM-7’s tracks…

Thank You For The Horsian, classic! Let’s not be modest about this though, we all fit the Freeform Loving Badass with Mad Skillz description too 😀
Nightforce
Sorry man, I should have noticed that too! I’ve just changed the tracklist here.
Nice mix, congrats! I had never heard Three or Three before, to be honest. I liked the mix to Supriya (live edit) too. That breakdown still gives me shivers. D;
PlasmaDancer, does EFM-7 still produce Freeform?
And I guess we could call ourselves ‘Horsers’, no problem. :p

Funnily enough I was wondering about EFM-7 just the other day – I’ve been asking around, but no signs of anything yet…
