This is one Hybridize tune that I’ve only heard very recently, and it definitely deserves a shout of its own. At 160bpm it doesn’t have the power of some of Nomic’s faster tunes, but it’s a genuinely beautiful track with an amazing atmosphere. Not hard trance and not freeform, it’s something new – and one of the best tunes I’ve heard for a long while. Nomic’s really been on top form for the last few months.

I’m back from NRGetic Romancer, and finally have time to mention that there is currently a mountain of new Hybridize tunes being released over at FINRG. Anyone who’s been to Hell’s Gate, or reading my tracklists here, will know about a good few of them – but there also are plenty of great hard trance tracks that are a bit too slow for me to be able to play in my own sets.
I’m not exactly a neutral when it comes to Hybridize, but I can honestly say that there are some absolutely blinding tunes in this newer batch – maybe those getting most play from me so far have been Distant Illusions, Fear of Reality, Celestea and Raindrops. Don’t forget that the tunes first released on CD have been mp3-ed, too, including Nomic’s new tunes, Alone With Me and Polyhedra 08.
A little late with this one (when am I anything else, these days?), but I really wanted to recommend Tyranoid’s new mix. Throwing together industrial, NRG and freeform, this is really ambitious and works incredibly well.
This is a little similar to the ‘different’ kind of mix I was thinking of doing a couple of months ago, but there’s no way I could match this one – Tyranoid really knows his stuff.
The tracklist:
01 Front Line Assembly – Mortal
02 Combichrist – This Shit Will Fuck You Up
03 Panzer AG – Filth God (Tyranoid/Strongstream remix)
04 Combichrist – Today I Woke to the Rain of Blood
05 Front Line Assembly – Infra Red Combat
06 Ultraform – I’m in Your Head
07 Blender – Illogical
08 Epyx & Cyrez – Static Response
09 Front Line Assembly – Synthetic Forms
10 Twisted Freq – Sin Cells
11 Tyranoid/Strongstream vs Substanced – Still Hope?
12 Nomic – You Have a Dream
13 Blender & Nomic – Battle of Dawn
14 Sabes – Machines
Goodness me, a week’s passed and no posts – sorry about that. I’ve been desperately trying to sort out a set for NRGetic Romancer on Saturday, it’s coming together at last, but time’s getting a bit short… While my ears are recovering from the last session, I’ll try to catch up on a few newsworthy things tonight.
First of all, Proteus has included Guld’s remix of City of Solitude in his newest top ten. As far as I know it’s the first time a Guld track has made it in there, so big congrats are due. I tend to agree with all of Proteus’ top tens, and this one especially – I haven’t heard that Stereo Junks remix, but I’m 100% with him on the rest. Check it out on Proteus’ site.
The report from last weekend’s event will be coming tomorrow, but in the meantime here’s Swoosh’s fantastic mix to commemorate FINRG’s 5th anniversary. I’m a bit late posting this up, but it’s a definite must listen, with a lot of new Hybridize material and bags of energy.
The tracklist:
1. Grimsoul – UG
2. Pero – Obsession
3. ? – Wasteland (Rob.O.T.T. Bootleg remix)
4. Wid & Ben – Absolution (Emilio 2008 Remix)
5. Iridium – Rebirth
6. Wrecked Machines Vs Pixel – Weekend (Eskimo Vs CPU Rmx)
7. Tronical x feat Nathan D – Too Many Notes (Emilio Remix)
8. Rob.O.T.T. – Revolution
9. Cyrez & Grimsoul – Cluster Bomb
10. Phyton vs Grimsoul – Empty eyes
11. Rob.O.T.T. – Cafe Del Mar (Bootleg A)
12. Substanced – Geneva
13. Orbit1 – H2SO4
14. CLSM & Leah Symons – Move On (Jon Doe Remix)
I’m proud to present the newest audio player from FINRG and Hybridize, showcasing some of the best new tunes of 2008 (including the yet to be released-but-awesome Titor’s Quantum Theory) and upcoming releases for early this year. I’ve been looking into getting some previews up on TYFTH for a long while now, and this is perfect – enjoy!
I got back from NRGetic Romancer this morning, and after a sleep my feet are still killing me. I definitely overdid the ‘dancing’, but it was a great event. I’ll write up a bit of a report once some pictures/video show up, but Android Lime did really well, suffice to say for now.
Anyway, while I was at NRGetic Romancer I finally received issue 3 of the UK’s Core magazine, via DJ Swoosh in Finland and then Guld. As part of my job with Hybridize I do some writing here and there, and for the FINRG section of Core I was asked to give a quick introduction to the new label, that sort of thing. I was expecting it to be just some background info for the staff on the magazine, who would then go on to write their own article – but my version was printed in full! Not quite what I was expecting, and I’m even given credit for it at the end of the article. If you’re in the UK, it’s worth seeking out a copy – there’s a pretty lengthy interview with Proteus in the same section as my Hybridize blurb.
Here’s a really interesting interview that Guld drew my attention to – it’s connected to the Hard Dance Awards, and Proteus runs through the best bits of his year. The highlight might be that when asked about his label of the year, he’s gone for Hybridize! It’s hard to argue, even if I am outrageously biased…FINRG itself has been a bit too quiet to qualify this year.
Also there’s this gem re. the Ground Zero festival (with Grady G) in the Netherlands:
“We played at the main stage and the stage was floating at the lake! It was the craziest show ever and during the last track we threw each other to the lake and we basically had to swim back to the stage to finish the set!!”
Eh? Floating in a lake? Anyway, click here to read the whole article. Shame on them though, in the stats box in the corner they forget to list Japan among Proteus’ visited countries…
For some reason I thought I’d already posted about this, but for anyone (like me) who couldn’t catch Proteus’ Dark Side radio show with Guld, it has been recorded by Jiipez. Let’s all be grateful to him for that, and you can download it here. It’s a brilliant show, and Guld picked some blinding tunes to give some airtime. Maybe most exciting is that you can hear Hase’s first two new tunes for a very long time, but there are plenty of other excellent tracks:
1. Fields Of The Nephilim – Shroud
2. Black Light Discipline – For All You Heavy-Hearted
3. Hase – Attacker
4. GULD – Requiem
5. Betwixt & Between – City Of Solitude
6. GULD – Solid State Scouter
7. Hase – Disintegration
8. Black Light Discipline – Tides
9. GULD – Jupiter
10. Rx – Hellfire (Betwixt & Between Remix)
11. Android Lime – Robot Noize (Dj X Lab4 Remix)
12. RR-ThermalForce – Al Megiddo
13. Popeda – Elän Itselleni
14. GULD – Hannya 8000
Tonight’s the night for one of the biggest events of the year – FINRG 512, in Helsinki. Of course, I can’t get to Finland for this, but it should be great – I’ve been hearing tales of what the Hybridize Live PA has planned, and it sounds incredible. I think Nightforce and myself are the only Hybridize members not to be there, which is a bit of a killer, but I’m already looking forward to hearing any sets that get recorded tonight.
All the best to all the artists involved, and let’s hope it turns out to be as awesome an event as it should.
