Following on from the last post, here’s the tracklist for the upcoming Dark Dimension compilation. Turns out that Guld will be contributing two tracks, his new remix of Dryad Machine and what’s hopefully a remastered version of the Lamento della Sirena remix.
I’m also looking forward to Evil Fairy and Suke’s tracks, and it looks like there’ll be some interesting industrial tracks from Takuya Angel, Sisen and MonSiii.
Dark Dimension has been doing a superb job over the past few years of supporting Tokyo’s darker music scenes, with everything from industrial to NRG featured at one time or another. Next month’s event is a special one though, marking the release of the first Dark Dimension CD release.
The full tracklist is still unannounced, but some of the biggest names to appear at DD will be on there, including Sisen, Takuya Angel, Satoshi Honjou and (until now) non-producing DJs such as Akira and Ray Trak. Most interesting for the TYFTH crew will probably be Guld’s track, and I’ll be sure to post again once more tracklist info shows up.
I’ll be getting the CD on the day, but for those outside Japan there’ll be a chance to buy it too – that is if you happen to be in Germany (Essen, specifically) on the 17th-18th October. Takuya Angel will be playing at the Astan Asia Days event, and will have some CDs for sale there.
Should really have mentioned this by now, but if you missed Alek Szahala’s appearance on Detonation Hard Drive’s Summer Session then you’re in for another treat.
The tracklist is similar at first glance to Alek’s CODEX Live PA, but there are some surprises in the form of a beautiful intro leading into a very trance-styled first track, and the very, very welcome appearance of Ngarnuuk in the wonderful final third of the set.
Brief respite here before I get back into more music-related busyness, and time for a belated look back at the last edition of CODEX. The biggest draw was the return of Alek Szahala after seven years away from Tokyo, but the whole event was a massive success, uniting the enthusiasm of the original CODEX crowd and the darker style of NRGetic Romancer’s ravers.
A quick note to draw attention to Hardcore Summer Bash 2015, for which I’m prepping another set. This one will be a special ‘vs’ hour with Guld, and we’re already going all-out to bring some surprises and proper NRGetic Romancer sound to the event.
The timetable won’t be announced for a while yet, but keep an eye on the Facebook event page for now, and of course there’ll be more info up here as and when.
Apologies for the patchy posts at the moment – there’s plenty going on behind the scenes though, and the big plans for TYFTH are still on track. They were even (partly) revealed to a select few at CODEX a couple of weeks ago, so stay tuned for more info asap. There’ll also be a write-up on the last event before too long…
In the meantime, an interesting edition of the Spider event is happening in little over a week, with headline sets from Guld and Munetica. It’s been way too long since I’ve been able to enjoy a really good club set away from CODEX, so I’ll definitely be making the short stroll from home to attend this one.

A brief respite before the freeform-related busyness starts up again, giving me just enough time to mention the next edition of the Lucky Lotus festival. I’m very happy to have been invited to take part, and looking forward to introducing a few new listeners to some darker freeform, as well as providing a fix for those who already know.
There’s a Facebook event page that will likely have timetables up in the not-too-distant future, but it will also be worth keeping an eye on Doujindance, where the festival will eventually be streamed.
Massive congrats to Dyzphazia for winning a place on the lineup at the next Hardcore ‘Til I Die, where he’ll be representing freeform alongside some very big names. His winning set submission is now online, and you can immediately see why it convinced the judges – enough uplifting, dancefloor freeform to excite a UK crowd, with some surprises along the way to a glorious, harder finale of Rx’s Eternal Cannon remix, Gozenzeuna and al Megiddo.
Another milestone for Dyzphazia, and I’m sure he’ll be representing the scene in fine style with some tasty selection and typically quality mixing. Huge news, then, and hopefully the UK Horsers will be out in force to support one of their own.
There’s some very interesting stuff floating around this week, including a brand new set recording from BRK. This mix features a good number of new tracks alongside Genesis material and past FINRG releases, in a full hour of BRK’s own productions. The set really has its moments – once again, it’s easy to see the progress he is making with each new release.
It’s rare these days to find an NRG-only set, and BRK deserves plenty of support for continuing to keep the lab 4-influenced sound alive. Thanks to the man himself we also have a tracklist:
The world and her husband must have heard this news by now, but it’s worth repeating anyway – Alek Szahala will be making his first appearance at a Japanese event for 7 (!) years, headlining the next edition of CODEX.
10 Years of FINRG was the last time I saw an Alek set, while for most of the Japanese crew this will be the first chance since 2008’s NRGetic Romancer. Once again, enormous respect to Raqhow for all his hard work – if anything was going to bring more Romancer ravers back to the world of NRG and freeform it’s a booking of this quality.
There’s already a massive buzz around the scene here, and I can’t wait for what’s sure to be an amazing event. Keep an eye on the Facebook event page for more news, but for now here’s the lineup information:
