Last night was Injected with a Poison, the early-to-mid-90s rave/hardcore event, and it was just as much fun as I was hoping. It was the first time to hear a lot of these tunes through a PA (back in darkest Wales I had to rely on radio sets and mixtapes), and a lot of the DJs really put the effort in to come up with some nice sets. It’s amazing how easily the tunes from about 94 onwards still get the crowd going with no trouble at all, a kick drum over an amen still works a treat..

Only three videos though – DJ Shimamura and WILD PARTY both selected some brilliant tracks, but the sets were spoiled by some truly abysmal MCing.
