Guld has announced the main floor timetable for Friday’s event, and a good job has been done fitting all 10 DJs into the evening. Once again I’m opening the event at 11pm – the upside of that is that I get a slightly longer set of 40 minutes. It’s probably safe to assume that anyone arriving in time for my set will want to hear freeform, so I’ll be going all out with a lot of promos at 170-175bpm.

Here’s the full lineup:

23:00 PlasmaDancer
23:40 Siki
00:20 COGI
00:55 Kaz-B
01:30 Full Circle DJs
02:10 TETRA
02:50 SiSeN
03:20 Betwixt & Between
03:50 TAKUYA
04:30 GULD

By the way, I’m also thinking about doing a USTREAM set on the 23rd (Saturday), where I could play my Romancer tunes plus anything else that couldn’t quite make it in there…

Last night was Injected with a Poison, the early-to-mid-90s rave/hardcore event, and it was just as much fun as I was hoping. It was the first time to hear a lot of these tunes through a PA (back in darkest Wales I had to rely on radio sets and mixtapes), and a lot of the DJs really put the effort in to come up with some nice sets. It’s amazing how easily the tunes from about 94 onwards still get the crowd going with no trouble at all, a kick drum over an amen still works a treat..

Only three videos though – DJ Shimamura and WILD PARTY both selected some brilliant tracks, but the sets were spoiled by some truly abysmal MCing. First clip up above is ASSHI playing Slipmatt’s classic Take Me Away, click down below for DJ 急行96 (kyuukou96)’s mic assisted stand-up comedy routine/DJ set and a clip of DJ CHAMP playing 95-96 hardcore.

Betwixt & Between – Inexistenz – f/c Ultimate Worldwide Freeform CD Album by ReBuild_Music

Big news today – after the Hybridize release of Airwave, it’s finally time for another Betwixt & Between track to see the light of day outside Japan, this time on ReBuild. Inexistenz steers away from Betwixt’s recent experimental sounds, but it’s a very nice freeform tune with yet another quality breakdown/melody that more than holds its own against any other track on the new Worldwide Freeform album. I doubt there’s anyone in the Finnish scene who doesn’t know his name by now, but hopefully this release will get Betwixt some much-deserved publicity in the UK and beyond.

It’s been a while since the last footage from Finland, so thanks to Syntse for this video of what looks like a quality lineup. Proteus vs Neon is always going to be a great set, but the main interest this time was surely the wonderful mother-daughter b2b of Nette and SuzuS – just one minute of YouTube is enough to show that they have perfect taste in tunes, and how nice it is to see them playing together.

I’m back to listening to Goa and Intelligent DnB these days, so here’s another Chill Out Corner with some of the new-school tracks that I’ve come across recently. Wish I could find the time to put together a mix, but this’ll have to do for now…

Let’s start off with a lovely tune that really is ‘chilled’, Born Underwater by Merr0w.

Less than two weeks to go now until NRGetic Romancer, and we’ve got something pretty special for this year’s anniversary. Once again it’s a collab event with ever free, but instead of mostly gabber this time we’ve brought together some of the best dark psy and industrial DJs in the scene. I’m really excited that both SiSeN and Takuya Angel will be playing – I’ve often talked with Takuya about how different our DJ styles are, it’ll be good fun to compare them at the same gig, while TETRA, Siki and Kaz-B are all quality, too. As if that wasn’t enough, we also have another floor for Adrenaline’s schranz and hard techno.

Despite this being the quietest I’ve ever seen the freeform scene, I’ll be playing a few new tracks – it’s going to be dark/fast/hard this time!

DJ Noriken – Lucia – f/c Ultimate Worldwide Freeform Album by ReBuild_Music

Time to catch up on a few things have happened in the past week – first of all we have a new track from Japanese producer Noriken appearing on the next Worldwide Freeform album. Lucia is a very nice piece of work – maybe it was just me, but isn’t the main melody pretty similar to StripE’s Fighting For Freedom? Whatever the inspiration, it’s a catchy tune that looks like it’ll be well worth including on the next CD.

Sam One & Amini – Melophobia (Mastered) by DJ-Amini

This track has been so close to an NRGetic Romancer playlist for a while now, and finally Amini has given it some well-deserved space on SoundCloud. Melophobia is a very fine sounding NRG track with some lovely synths in the breakdown – it’s great to hear two trance-heads taking on such a nasty genre, and doing such a nice job, too.
