Next month’s date for NRGetic Romancer is all decided, and will again be held on a Friday. There was talk of me playing at a different event this month too (it was originally going to be tomorrow), but it’s been postponed until next month, or more probably January. More details as and when…

That’s all the info I have for now, so let’s randomly listen to one of Grimsoul’s classic oldies. Jään Hautaamat is another great track, it’s amazing how his standard was so high even back then.

Lately I’ve been getting back into hardcore – DJ Aemi played a really good set at that Trance Halloween event a while back, and I was re-listening to Alek Szahala’s amazing Mania set, too. Here’s Proteus playing his own hardcore set at what looks like a special Sade vs Mindcore event.

Listen out for a pitched up (!) Order Chaos in the middle – it’s such a great tune to use in a mix, the outro is mixable with just about anything, letting you go even harder or bring in the breakdown from a more melodic tune. Another great set from the big man, seems like he can get a crowd going with pretty much any genre.

Sweden’s DJ Heathen has just completed another two mixes to add to his Ephexor series – Ephexor003 is unrelenting hard techno/Hard NRG while 004 is more along hardhouse lines. The Hard NRG edition has some classic Finnish/Japanese tracks, including Angel of Hell, Zusammengehorigkeit and a pitched down Walking in the Air, which actually works really well. The rest of the set has a strong hardstyle/hard techno feel, which builds up a pretty unique atmosphere.

1. Tommy Pulse – The Messiah
2. Random But Raw – Sex Drugs N Lock N Load
3. The Prophet & JDX – The Dream
4. Raff & Allan Pullen – The Virus
5. Ultraform – Jonathan
6. Heathen – Digital Destruction (Cyrez remix)
7. Phrantic ft. Boudie – Unleashed
8. Zatox – Crescent Slash
9. Heathen – BFG (Soulfucker´s Hardstyle mix)
10. Proteus, Ephexis & Ting – Angel of Hell
11. Betwixt & Between – Zusammengehorigkeit
12 Tymon – End Of Eternity
13 Re-form – Walking In The Air (Bootleg remix)

Definitely a good set to dance to – both this and Ephexor004 can be found on Heathen’s new homepage.

I’ve been looking forward to this for a long time – Re-form’s first new track for a couple of years! My Sickness is the first of a few new tunes under construction, and bodes really well for the future – this one has loads of energy, and some really rough synths. The structure’s interesting too, with some little cuts/the kick coming back unexpectedly, and you could definitely imagine it doing the business on the dancefloor. Anyway, this version is unmastered (plus it’s on YouTube), so the quality of the final tune will be a different story.

Have to admit that I forgot to post this one up when Decion first completed it, but here it is at last. Noxious has a very catchy opening (with Rollerskate and Videodrome Scanner), before it goes into more typical Decion nastiness. I especially liked the final track, Hurtin’ Bombs – semi-oldskool sounding with a nice powerful kick to finish the set off.

1. Nik Denton & Justin Bourne & Defective Audio – Rollerskate
2. Random but Raw – Videodrome Scanner
3. Dave Owens – Carbonara
4. Alchemiist & Decion – Code Red
5. Random But Raw & Tekneak – Punk’d (WhiteHayz Remix)
6. Dave Curtis – Brain Drain
7. Evo D Feat. La Zenza – Every Doze
8. Michael Smith – Fatal Wound
9. Michael Smith – Doing Drugs, Selling Drugs
10. Wylie – The Abbotoirr
11. Grady G – Lockjaw
12. Gem Stone & Steve Hewitt Vs. Paul J – Surrogate
13. Shenton – Hurtin Bombs

It’s always hard to find good video of Alek Szahala, but the other day I came across this 5 minute clip from this year’s Konemetsä. It looks like it was a great set, but listen out especially for the track at 1.40 – it’s the first time for me to hear this one – classic Alek, complete with another beautiful breakdown.

There’s no end to the free FINRG releases, this time we’ve got a huge collection of Re-form’s unreleased back catalogue. It’s the first time for me to hear most of these tracks, and like the amazing Walking in the Air bootleg, they still stand up well against more recent tunes.

My favourite of those I haven’t heard before might be Revenge, but this batch also includes one of their all-time classic tracks, Cobra. It’s been an anthem at NRGetic Romancer ever since Guld’s first contact with the Finnish scene years ago and was even included in his old mix CD release, Romance of NRG.

It seems like a few of the TYFTH crew have beaten me to it, but check DJ Swoosh’s FINRG topic for download info.

This has already been mentioned in the Top Ten post’s comments a day or two ago, but FINRG and Hybridize have just released another nine tracks for free! Tracks include DJ Rx’s In Memoriam, a lot of Sam one’s newest production and a release at last for one of this year’s anthems at NRGetic Romancer, IAF’s Kinky. There are also new tunes from Phyton and Grimsoul, and a very nice debut track from UK artist Nigel Neptune, so once again check the FINRG download page to get hold of them all.
