Vyral XIII (aka Kilamorza) is deservedly building up a nice reputation, with plenty of very promising atmospheric freeform tracks up on his SoundCloud. My favourite so far still has to be the live edit of Sirius, a demented tune with a slightly Finnish feel and a quality, addictive melody.

Staying with NRG for tonight, big thanks to Chip and Akibakei for the heads-up on two free tracks from the archives of Captain Tinrib and RR Fierce. Street Tab is especially nice, but fans of the classic NRG sound should make sure to get both tunes via the Tinrib Digital site.
More dark and nasty NRG from Alchemiist and Decion here, set for release on ‘Orrible Noize Recordings. Their latest collab track is another great effort, while The Anger Process has all the aggression you’d expect from Alchemiist, especially in the as-usual excellent breakdown.
Thanks to the good folk at Munted! for pointing me in the direction of the fourth mix in the ‘400 Likes’ series, this time from none other than the young master of darker freeform, Alchemiist. Weirdly I was thinking recently how great an Alchemiist live PA would be, and along comes this set of his own freeform tunes, running from his older tunes right up to Anthrax Injection. It’s another must-listen in what’s been a brilliant series.
Download here, and check out Munted! here.

Munted! has managed the impressive feat of reaching 400 Facebook fans (or ‘likes’, if you prefer), and to celebrate the crew have gone way beyond the call of duty with this mix series, enlisting three of the scene’s major artists. Congratulations to Munted! – and of course if you haven’t already, be sure to check out their page for a heady cocktail of freeform news, egg-related puns and badger references.

For one reason or another this post was interrupted last week, so before I get completely left behind here’s a brief-ish roundup of Munted! Monthly! Episode 7.
Le Dos-on started things off with an excellent set of his own productions. As is common with one-artist-only mixes, the focus was on the selection rather than transitions, but this was the perfect showcase of Le Dos-on’s style for those who might not be too familiar with his newer tunes.
With influences ranging from Alek Szahala to Hybridize via UK and Japanese freeform, he’s successfully forging a very distinctive sound – starting this time with one of my tunes of the year, the fabulous Intro (epatoivo). The second half of the set leans towards the lighter side of things (the wonderful Le and Sena aside), but his melancholy/darker tracks are just about a match for anything you’ll hear these days.
- Intro(epatoivo)
- Stance-Another Story-
- Aurora
- yksisarvinen
- toivomus
- Mental Madness
- TRANSFORMER
- Silver Rain
- Sky
- Le
- Sena
A quick post here, just to remind everyone of a very special Munted! Monthly! – J-Mx and Nomic are guesting on what will be the final show. It’s a real shame that the event is coming to the end of its run, as Chip, Midas and the rest of the crew have done a brilliant job of introducing the less-well known sounds in the freeform scene to a wider audience.
Make sure to head along to Krafty Radio tonight (10pm BST) to show your support one last time.
Dye in Sound fans might be interested in Nuclear Warfare (from 3form Records), as it includes Kill You Slowly, the Dye in Sound Fugees remix with a very strong Nightforce feel to it. The version I’ve played in a couple of sets has always had a good response, but it’s probably a good idea to check the other previews before deciding if this one’s a worthwhile purchase.
BEEZEE made another appearance on the Freeformaniacs show this week, with yet another trademark set of filtered madness. This time he’s dropping a few promos, including plenty of new Smiling Corpse material, but the flow is as good as ever. My personal favourite is the Morokai – Prelude connection, an awesome combination that really makes the finale of the set.
- Substanced – The End Of All Things (Aryx mix)
- Wyrm – Tendrils Of Reality
- Penguin Conspiracy – Tripswitch
- Micken – Portal
- Nomic – Chaos Maker
- Pain On Cration – Lush
- Transcend – Upwards
- Heliakon Vs Ephexis – Exploder
- Aryx – Morokai
- Epyx and Cyrez – Prelude (Penguin Conspiracy mix)
- Alchemist – Anthrax Injection
Great to see Transcend and Dyzphazia continuing with their collabs, following up the Skullcrush remix with this really promising original track. Tormenting Flames has something for everyone, with a lovely breakdown and some trancy/energetic melodies that are nicely balanced out by the filtering after the drop.
