Thanks again to Soham for this great clip of KA-NA playing at the last Hell’s vs Trance Enough event. As usual it’s Alek Szahala overload, with the very underplayed Hydra followed by Man Eaten – typical of her style.
Events
Operation Karma has been and gone, and so here are a few of the videos from the event. It’s taking me a long while to upload them all, so for the time being I’ve focused on the freeform DJs.
Anyway, first up is DJ MT, who followed Dairin’s hard house with uplifting freeform. The first half of the set was very much UK style, but things got darker/harder as it went on and finished with the Karma anthems of Operation Stardust and Ephexis’ Quantum Fury (both slightly edited by MT himself). Here he is playing Epyx & Cyrez’s Heroes for Sale.
Check the rest of the post for videos from Kaz-B and KA-NA.
A few of us at Romancer didn’t know too much about Bootek until recently, so Guld has been passing this video around as a good example of what his style sounds like. Maybe not what we usually hear at NRGetic Romancer, but it really seems like it’d be hard not to enjoy one of his mashed up sets.
I was at Takuya Angel’s shop in Harajuku again today, and it reminded me about this footage from his fashion show in the US last November. All the designs are by Takuya himself, and that’s him on the decks in the background, playing his own tune. A few of these outfits might be a little (!) too neon for NRGetic Romancer, but I’m always impressed by his work – apparently the next Tokyo show is in July.

The return of Operation Karma is this Sunday, and the timetable looks perfect. You can see the lineup above – it’ll be a long night, but I’ll definitely be getting there early to see Dairin’s set.
This event was actually Horzi’s first solo gig (his previous sets were all collab/b2b), and this time he combined his own tracks with live guitar in really impressive style. The two tracks here are his remix of My Serenity and the very nice Infernal Psycho – definitely seems like the crowd was feeling it (and that J-Mx knows every single beat of Horzi’s tracks).
Syntse was also playing, so hopefully we’ll be getting some more video from him before too long.
Always first with the breaking news – here’s a two-year-old video from one of Alek Szahala’s sets. It’s one of the best Alek videos you’ll find, and that was partly the reason for the delay in upping it…you can hear the whole of Astraia here, and I was a bit worried some morally lacking DJs might try ripping the audio to play live (!). Paranoid maybe, but sadly I’ve heard more than one or two low-quality previews of FINRG tracks being played by Japanese DJs in Tokyo, and the less that happens the better…
Anyway, listen out for the last minute and a half or so after Astraia, there’s another really nice trancy track that I don’t know at all…fabulous breakdown, I guess it’s been played in a few Finnish sets since then? If that’s not enough, have even more fun by playing ‘spot the FINRG artist’ among the groups of people chilling in the field.

Seems that the next Operation Karma will be held during this event, which will use the main floor of Studio Cube. Fans of this kind of thing will be in their element, but the rest of us will be heading to the 4th floor, where Minagi and MT have managed to book Lunch, Kaz-B, P.R.D and DJ 490 (!). KA-NA will be the main reason I have to get to this one, but I’ve also noticed that scene dance specialist DAIRIN seems to be DJing too.
ConfigSys PROJECT has just released an awesome promo video, with dark and moody semi-apocalyptic scenes segueing scarily well into footage from FUNERAL in Nagoya and other events. Playing in the background is one of my favourites from CFS, Pariahs Son.
Fans of ConfigSys should keep watching this space during the next day or two for more good news…

Here’s the final, final NRGetic Romancer flyer – changed because Jody 6 has been booked at the last minute! With him added to the lineup there is really something for everyone, and even if the bpm is going to be a bit lower than usual this is shaping up to be an awesome event.
