Here’s a very nice video from Swoosh and Jayvee’s Supercharged set that features one of the most underrated tunes of last year – Grimsoul’s I’ll Bring The Storm.
Alchemiist – Aerobiosis by Thank You For The Horse
Sorry it’s been a while, but hopefully these new (and one not-so-new) tracks will have been worth the wait. Huge thanks to all the guys involved – I’m trying to keep a fairly consistent sound on the TYFTH SoundCloud so far, and once again we’ve got some really high quality stuff, all the way from Aryx’s excellent melodic hard trance up to TF’s nasty freeform.
Fall 4 You was actually released for free a long time ago by Twisted Freq, but it’s really deserving of being up somewhere more permanently, while Alchemiist and J-Mx’s tracks are up for the first time, and will hopefully get them some new listeners.
For one reason or another I can’t upgrade the SC account just at the moment, so the next group of tunes (which are already partly decided) will have to wait for a while. It also means that this new batch will be limited to 100 downloads for the time being. Most of the other tracks reached the download limit very quickly, so grab them while you can!
Substanced – The Free of Form Guest Mix 2011 by FINRG Recordings
I’ve been under the weather for a couple of days, and nearly missed Substanced’s guest appearance on the Free of Form show. Lucky I didn’t though, as this one’s a top-notch set with a good mix of melodies and harder stuff. Standouts among the newer tracks might include Substanced’s Aurora remix, Horzi’s excellent rework of Unique Mind and the Bad Girl bootleg, while there are plenty of other quality selections like Rachel’s Song and Point of No Return. Substanced also deserves kudos for the high bpm right from the very start, at a time when a lot of tunes/sets seem to be getting slower.
- Substanced – Antidote
- Technikal & Kim Ayres – Bad Girl (Substanced bootleg remix)
- Betwixt & Between – Point of No Return
- Alek Szahala – Sunray
- Aryx – Aurora (Substanced unfinished remix)
- Nightforce – You Are (Not) Alone
- Substanced – Evolution
- Heliakon vs Ephexis – Iliad (SynthWulf remix)
- Vangelis – Rachel’s Song (Grimsoul remix)
- Substanced & JNKS – Seismic Activity (Version 2)
- Pain on Creation- Lush (Fatal Error edit)
- Dye In Sound – Kill You Slowly
- Nomic – Unique Mind (Horzi remix)
So, here we go then – apart from a couple of sound glitches near the start, the first real attempt at recording a Ustream show miraculously went fairly well. The set itself was a bit of an experiment to see if I could get from dark psy to freeform, and I’m very happy with the sequence in the second half. I’ve already used Hesotarou Tankobu in a recorded set though, so a few of these connections might be live-event only in the future. Massive thanks to BerN by the way, for keeping me company through the recording.
- Noise Gust – Zone
- Suge – Dalursa
- Suge – Terrible Oneness
- Alek Szahala – Icy Clouds
- Betwixt & Between – Stairway to Solstice
- Betwixt & Between – たんこぶへそ太郎の放浪
- Alchemiist & J-Mx – Leadbeater
- Alabaster – The Clairvoyance (Distortion Girl)
- Pain on Creation – Thru 2 Secrets
This is more for the crew in Japan, but in a few minutes I’ll be doing a quick ‘broadcast’ to test out the ustream recorder, using the first part of the set I played on Sunday. If anyone’s around, feel free to say hi, but it’ll only be 30 minutes or so (and all being well the recording will go up here and on Ustream anyway).
Thanks to Syntse for this video from Heathen and J7’s b2b set last Friday. I was looking forward to hearing what they played, and it turned out to be hard house and NRG all the way – nice to hear Kraateri in there at the beginning.
About 25 minutes to go until I clang through a few tunes on ustream, so maybe about time to put the window up here too. I’m quite happy with the intro I’ve got planned, but don’t have a clue what’ll happen after that – I’ll have plenty of tracks to hand though, for any requests for something special.
Time to stretch my legs a bit before all that starts – anyone who’s free later on, hope to see you there!
The quiet week is ending on a high thanks to Alderz, who has come up with a very timely mix of classics and recent tunes. DCTTUL is a great advert for the unplanned set, with an absolute ton of energy (that in a way is harder to get from a sit-down-with-pen-and-paper studio mix) and some quality mixing that does an impressive job of tying together tunes from the old days and the likes of Unhola, Aurora and Inexistenz. Hardly surprising though, as Alderz himself has been playing for about 13 years, alongside some very big names at UK events like Detox, Xposed and Blackout.
Thanks again to Alderz – with sets like this, it looks as though the sound we all love won’t be disappearing anytime soon.
- Carbon Based – Anthem
- Nomad – Lose It
- Eryk Orpheus – PVC
- Douglas feat. Rhona – FM-220
- Epyx & Cyrez – Unhola (Guld remix)
- Alek Szahala – Alanamra
- Aryx – Aurora
- Ephexis – Sick Seduction
- Carbon Based – Fatal Flashback
- Alek Szahala – Ashurnishishi
- Betwixt & Between – Inexistenz
- Lost Soul feat. Dark Angel – Beyond Salvation
- Peaks & Pinnacle – Dynamo Cookie (Douglas remix)
To get in the mood for next week’s THC, here’s a clip of Kanon playing hardcore at the vs Rainbow Devil event at the end of last year. I’m either going senile (very possible) or somehow I managed to completely miss this set at the time…
Just some early warning that I’ll be playing another Ustream set on Sunday, starting at 9pm my time. For those who aren’t around, in the next couple of days I’ll experiment a bit with recording while streaming, too. Not too sure about the tunes yet, but there’ll be some newer stuff as well as a few more oldies…
